"I Been Fishin' Longer Than You" Report

May 19, 2026
Alright, listen up, you landlubbers! Grandpa Sasquatch's got a fishing forecast, and it ain't pretty. Neah Bay, next two weeks. Don't expect miracles.
Day 1-3: Rain. Lots of it. Fish are probably laughing at you from their cozy little fish beds. Stay home.
Day 4-6: Maybe the sun peeks out. Maybe. Expect nibbles, not catches. Unless you're into seaweed.
Day 7-9: The seagulls are having better luck than you. Consider bird watching instead.
Day 10-12: I saw a salmon jump. Once. Could be a good sign...or just a really athletic salmon mocking me.
Day 13: More rain. Surprise, surprise.
Day 14: Go home. You're wasting your time. And my peace and quiet.
Basically, it's all bad. Now get off my lawn!

Neah Bay Fishing Forecast & Tide Charts

History of the Place:
Neah Bay is the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States and home to the Makah Tribe. For 1,500 years (roughly my age), the Makah have been masters of these waters. This is the first stop for salmon returning from the North Pacific, making it the premier “intercept” fishery in the state.

List of Fishing Areas:

  • Swiftsure Bank: A massive offshore bank teeming with life.

  • Tatoosh Island: Home to the historic lighthouse and epic Lingcod.

  • Waddah Island: Protective structure for the bay with great trolling.

  • The Garbage Dump: A strangely named but legendary Halibut hole.

Type of Fish:
Trophy Halibut, massive Lingcod, Chinook, and ocean-bright Coho.

Season Fishing Forecast:

  • Winter: Usually quiet due to extreme weather; focus on planning.

  • Spring: The best Halibut fishing in the lower 48 starts in May.

  • Summer: Non-stop salmon action as fish make the “turn” into the Strait.

  • Fall: Deep-water bottom fishing until the storms roll in.

Grandpa's Cold Hard Truth:
Neah Bay is for real fishermen, not city-slicker Juniors. The weather can change faster than a politician’s promise. Check the Neah Bay tide charts or stay home and watch Keanu movies.
