Action: Allows up to two Chinook to be retained as part of the salmon daily limit.

Effective date: June 18 through June 30, 2026.

Species affected: Salmon

Location: Marine Area 11, except year-round piers (Des Moines Pier, Les Davis Pier, Point Defiance Boathouse Dock, and Redondo Pier).

Salmon Rules:

  • Open daily. Chinook minimum size 22 inches. All other salmon species, no minimum size. Daily limit two. Release chum and wild Chinook.
  • Commencement Bay (east of a line from Cliff House Restaurant to Sperry Ocean Dock) is closed to fishing for or retention of salmon.

Reason for action: Catch estimates for the Marine Area 11 June Chinook fishery indicate the fishery has reached 35% of the harvest quota (504 of 1,423), 33% of the unmarked encounter limit (270 of 820) and 19% of sublegal encounter limit (424 of 2,186), through June 14. Based on estimates to date, sufficient catch and encounters remain under fishery guidelines to allow retention of more than one Chinook per day.
