Action: Opens five days of hatchery coho retention (Sept. 4–8) with a nearshore salmon fishing closure.

Locations, dates, and rules:
Marine Area 1, outside of the nearshore salmon closure area:
- Sept. 1–3: Closed to salmon fishing. Possession of salmon is prohibited onboard a vessel.
- Sept. 4–8: Daily limit two. Coho minimum size 16 inches. Other salmon species no minimum size. Release Chinook and wild coho. Possession of Chinook is prohibited onboard a vessel.
- Sept. 9–30: Closed to salmon fishing. Possession of salmon is prohibited onboard a vessel.
Marine Area 1 nearshore salmon closure area, north of 46° 15' N and east of 124° 08.667' W (from approximately mid-mouth Columbia River north and within approximately 3 miles of shore):
- Sept. 1–3: Closed to salmon fishing. Possession of salmon is prohibited onboard a vessel.
- Sept. 4–8: Closed to salmon fishing. Possession of Chinook is prohibited onboard a vessel.
- Sept. 9–30: Closed to salmon fishing. Possession of salmon is prohibited onboard a vessel.
Reason for action: Current catch estimates indicate sufficient coho remain under the quota to allow for this limited opening.
Additional information: The Columbia River Control Zone is closed to salmon fishing, except open to fishing from the north jetty when adjacent waters north of the Control Zone (Marine Area 1) or the Buoy 10 fishery (Columbia River from Buoy 10 to the Astoria-Megler Bridge) are open to fishing for salmon. Salmon minimum size and daily limits in the north jetty follow the most liberal regulations from either Marine Area 1 or the Buoy 10 fishery.
