Action: Closes salmon fishing.
Effective dates: Aug. 31, 2026, until further notice.
Species affected: Chinook salmon.
Location: Entiat River (Chelan County) from the mouth (railroad bridge) to the Mad River Road Bridge crossing the Entiat River (near Ardenvoir).
Reason for action: Angler success and participation has declined sharply, likely due to lack of chinook salmon presence caused by ongoing poor river conditions. Many adult Chinook salmon as well as numerous other fish species have died due to substantial sediment and debris flows caused by a recent rainfall event occurring over the active Little Giant Fire. This closure is necessary to allow WDFW to allocate monitoring resources to other fisheries.
Additional information: All other rules listed in the 2026-2027 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for the Entiat River remain in effect.
Fishery managers encourage anglers to sign up for Fishing Rule Change email notifications and to check for emergency rules on the WDFW website before fishing. Refer to the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for current regulations. Download the Fish Washington® mobile app to stay up to date on the go.
